To collectors, the Mascot usually represents the tiny gold plated pencils sporting tacky colored rhinestons on the cap.

This example is different -- it is a full sized pencil, the lower barrel of which is triangular.  Judging from the advertising, it appears to be from the 1920s or 1930s.
